Romy Reiner brought an unexpected family connection to the finale of Larry David’s HBO sketch series Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.
The 28-year-old actor appeared in the seventh and final episode, “Lawrence,” which debuted August 7. Her father, filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, had filmed what became his final screen performance for the same series before his death in December 2025.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Romy and Rob appeared in separate historical sketches and did not share a scene.
Romy’s appearance also marked a return to a Larry David project after she played a drugstore cashier on Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2021.
Romy Played a Nurse Caring for William Henry Harrison
In “Lawrence,” Romy plays an exasperated nurse caring for President William Henry Harrison, portrayed by Fred Melamed. The sketch plays on the story of Harrison becoming ill after delivering his lengthy 1841 inaugural address without an overcoat.
David’s character repeatedly complicates the situation with questions and interruptions as the nurse tries to care for the president.bEntertainment Weekly described the role as a full-circle moment because Romy closed the same series that featured her father’s final performance just five episodes earlier.
Rob Reiner Played George Washington in His Final Screen Performance

Rob appeared as George Washington in “Farewell,” the show’s second episode, which debuted July 3. The sketch centers on Washington announcing that he will step away from the presidency after two terms as David repeatedly interrupts him with increasingly elaborate hypothetical questions about what future presidents might do.
Executive producer Ethan Lewis told TV Insider that Reiner filmed the segment in October 2025. Lewis said having him involved was special at the time and had taken on additional significance following his death.
Rob and Larry David had worked together for decades. Reiner first appeared as a fictionalized version of himself on Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2001 and returned to the series multiple times.
The HBO Series Put Larry David Into American History
Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness is a seven-episode limited sketch-comedy series created by David and Jeff Schaffer. The HBO series announcement describes the premise with the line, “Those who don’t know history… are doomed to watch Larry David repeat it.”
The sketches place David’s argumentative comic persona into major moments in American history, including the Boston Tea Party, the moon landing and presidential history.
David and Schaffer executive produced the series alongside Higher Ground’s Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Ethan Lewis and Vinnie Malhotra. The show premiered June 26 and concluded with Romy’s episode on August 7.
Romy and Jake Reiner Recently Honored Their Parents at Dodger Stadium
Romy’s finale appearance came days after she and her brother Jake Reiner made a public tribute to their parents at Dodger Stadium. On August 2, the siblings threw ceremonial first pitches before the Los Angeles Dodgers played the Boston Red Sox.
People reported that the event honored Rob and Michele Singer Reiner, who died in December 2025. Rob was a lifelong Dodgers fan, and the Reiner family had held season tickets for approximately 60 years. Jake and Rob had also traveled together to see games in every U.S. city with a Major League Baseball team.
