North West has experimented with blue hair, grills and an assortment of facial jewelry, but there is still one piercing she says she cannot get.
The 13-year-old named a bridge piercing while discussing her evolving style in a new Dazed interview published August 24. Her answer also clears up some confusion created by earlier appearances in which she wore jewelry across the bridge of her nose.
Dazed described North’s overall style as incorporating a mixture of real and fake piercings, while the fashion credits for the cover shoot specifically identify the facial piercings worn throughout as the stylist’s own fake pieces.
The conversation moved from the accessory North wants to an item she already treasures. Asked to name her “holy grail” fashion piece, she chose a Michael Jackson jacket that her mother, Kim Kardashian, gave her years earlier.
North Says a Bridge Piercing Is Still Off-Limits

Piercings have become an increasingly visible part of North’s style, and Dazed asked her directly what she likes about them. “They just make you your full self,” North said. “I really want to get my bridge pierced, but I’m not allowed.”
She offered no further explanation for the restriction. Although PEOPLE described the comment in the context of boundaries set by her parents, North herself did not specify in the interview who had told her she could not get it.
Her Dazed shoot makes that separation especially clear. The magazine described North as wearing “a mix of real and fake piercings,” and one of its fashion credits specifies that the “fake face piercings worn throughout” belonged to stylist Imruh Asha.
She Has Already Tried the Bridge Look With Faux Jewelry
North first fueled bridge-piercing speculation in January when she appeared in TikTok videos wearing silver studs on either side of her nose. Teen Vogue reported at the time that the jewelry was probably faux, noting that it appeared in some videos and disappeared in others. The outlet also pointed out that North had previously experimented with temporary facial jewelry.
By June, there was less ambiguity. When North attended the Vetements menswear Spring/Summer 2027 show during Paris Fashion Week, Teen Vogue described the studs across the center of her face, including the bridge placement as faux piercings.
Temporary jewelry still fits naturally into the style she has developed. For the Gus Van Sant-photographed Dazed shoot, North paired blue hair inspired by virtual pop star Hatsune Miku with grills, spikes, Rick Owens Geobaskets and removable facial pieces. “All I want is blue hair and piercings,” she told the magazine while discussing the attention her appearance receives.
The Michael Jackson Jacket Is Her ‘Holy Grail’ Fashion Item
When Dazed asked North to name her “holy grail fashion item,” she immediately pointed to a piece with considerably more history than her temporary facial jewelry. “Well, I have a Michael Jackson jacket,” she said.
Asked how she got it, North replied that it had been a gift from her mother. She also named her Rick Owens Geobaskets among her most prized fashion possessions. Kardashian and North’s father, Ye, bought the black velvet Jackson jacket at auction as a Christmas gift in 2019, when North was 6. The embellished piece sold for $65,625 through Julien’s Auctions.
Jackson wore the jacket in 1997 to Elizabeth Taylor’s 65th birthday celebration and again during the Cannes Film Festival for a screening of his short film Ghosts.
After purchasing it, Kardashian explained that the garment had been temporarily altered so North could wear it without permanently changing the original piece. The sleeves and body could later be lengthened as she grew. “It can grow with her and she can have this for her whole life,” Kardashian said at the time.
North also received Jackson’s black-and-white “Smooth Criminal” fedora, another item purchased at auction, but it was the jacket she singled out when Dazed asked about the most important fashion piece in her own closet.
North Says Music Is What She Wants to Do With Her Life
Fashion occupies only part of the new profile. The Dazed cover story is primarily about North’s increasingly serious move into music. She released her six-track debut EP, N0rth4evr, on May 1, when she was still 12. Dazed describes the project as combining rage rap, emo, hyperpop, alternative rock and metal, with North credited as a producer across the record.
Later that month, she made a surprise appearance during Molly Santana’s set at Rolling Loud in Orlando. North told Dazed that the collaboration mattered because she wanted to show that female artists could connect without the rivalries that often dominate online conversation.
She followed that appearance with her first solo festival set at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash in the Chicago area in June. The 15-minute performance included songs from N0rth4evr as well as “TALKING,” her 2024 collaboration with Ye and Ty Dolla $ign.
North told the magazine that performing has already changed the way she prepares. She said she previously preferred simply going onstage and seeing what happened, but now rehearses and puts more planning into her shows. “Music is what I wanna do with my life.”
She Also Wants a Much More Ordinary Job at 14
When Dazed asked what she might do if she were not an artist, North ruled out an earlier ambition to become a basketball player. Instead, she said she wants to apply for an ordinary job once she is old enough.
“I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year,” she said. “I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so… I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess.”
