Police searched Trippie Redd’s all-black South Florida mansion on Tuesday, Oct. 6, while executing a search warrant.
NBC6 reported several police vehicles outside the home in Southwest Ranches, a town in western Broward County.
Officials have not disclosed what prompted the search or what investigators were looking for. It also remains unclear whether Trippie Redd, whose legal name is Michael Lamar White, is a target of the investigation.
TMZ reported that the rapper’s representatives had not responded to its request for comment.
SWAT Officers and Crime-Scene Investigators Entered the Estate
Reporting from outside the home for NBC6, Lena Salzbank said law-enforcement personnel had been coming and going for hours. She identified SWAT officers and crime-scene investigators among those entering and leaving the property.
Investigators photographed areas in and around the home, with camera flashes visible outside. Salzbank said the street had grown quieter by her late-night report, but her crew had recently seen investigators move farther into the property. Neighbors also drove past to see what was happening.
A Davie Police Department spokesperson told TMZ that its officers were assisting with the warrant. The City of Miami Police Department is leading the case.
Southwest Ranches receives its local police services from Davie. The town’s official website says that arrangement began in 2014, when Davie replaced the Broward Sheriff’s Office as its law-enforcement provider.
He Bought the Estate for $7.5 Million in 2022
Trippie purchased the two-story mansion in May 2022 for $7.5 million, according to The Real Deal. The publication reported that the residence measures 18,923 square feet and contains nine bedrooms and 11½ bathrooms.
The property also includes two offices, a wine cellar and an eight-car garage. Its indoor basketball court has an exercise area. When he bought it, the mansion had a white exterior and Mediterranean-style architecture.
His Mother Suggested Painting the House Black
Trippie unveiled the new exterior on Instagram in April 2024, calling the property “The Black House,” according to XXL. The makeover covered the walls, roof and driveway.
In a June 2024 interview with Local 10, Trippie credited his mother with the design decision. “It was actually my mom’s idea,” he said, explaining that black was a favorite color for both of them.
The station reported that crews applied nearly three coats of paint. Trippie said he enjoyed the conversations the unusual design prompted among his neighbors, although he joked about birds leaving droppings against the dark exterior.
A Tour With DDG Showed His Custom Bed and Piano Room
In an April 2024 YouTube tour with DDG, the rapper showed off a piano room and a custom bed he said cost $30,000. He explained that he had the bed made after deciding a Rick Owens design he wanted was too expensive.
During the visit, Trippie also discussed how he negotiated the purchase. He said the home had previously been listed for $12.5 million and that its former owner had been facing foreclosure, according to XXL’s account of the tour.
When Local 10 visited later, Trippie explained that the size of the property mattered to his work. “I need a lot of space for my creativity,” he said. He also valued having privacy and was still refining the interior, including his recording studio.
