Prince Harry’s recent reunion with King Charles III appears to have eased one strained royal relationship, but reports indicate that his rift with Prince William remains unchanged.

People reported that the brothers are still not communicating, despite Harry spending several days in the United Kingdom with Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet earlier in July.

A separate report now claims that direct contact is so difficult that Harry has asked relatives, palace aides and mutual friends to convey his willingness to meet privately.

Neither brother has publicly confirmed that intermediaries are carrying messages between them.

Harry traveled to Britain for several charitable engagements, including events connected to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. On July 10, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Harry, Meghan and their children at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

The private gathering marked the first reported meeting between Charles and his California-based grandchildren in four years. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the reunion took place but did not release photographs or details about the family’s conversation.

The meeting represented a significant change from May 2025, when Harry said his father was not speaking to him because of their dispute over the security arrangements available to the Sussex family in Britain. The Prince of Wales did not meet Harry during the visit, and there was no confirmed private conversation between the brothers.

Harry Is Reportedly Asking Others to Deliver His Message

Reality Tea reported, citing an unnamed source who spoke to Heat World, that Harry has changed his approach after being unable to contact William directly. The source claimed that Harry has spoken with Charles, royal aides and mutual friends in hopes that they will tell William he remains willing to sit down whenever his older brother is ready.

“If he had any chance of reaching William he’d just call him up directly,” the source said. “But he’d never get through.” Harry has allegedly told shared friends that he misses William and believes a private, one-on-one conversation offers the only realistic path toward resolving the dispute.

According to the insider, Harry accepts that he cannot control William’s anger but intends to keep extending what he considers an opportunity for reconciliation. A source familiar with both men told People that there had been “no movement,” particularly from William.

“I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest,” the source said. “But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side. There is no contact.” Another insider described their relationship as “so broken.”

An Earlier Intermediary Effort Was Also Disputed

Royal author Omid Scobie said in February that people close to Harry told him the Duke of Sussex had previously approached a mutual friend who might help facilitate a conversation.

Scobie said the proposed contact could have taken place with the intermediary present or through another agreed channel, but William did not accept the reported offer. “It didn’t happen,” Scobie said. “It wasn’t received in any way whatsoever.” A separate palace source later disputed that account, claiming no intermediary or secret peace offer had been sent.

The Rift Deepened After Harry Left Royal Duties

The brothers’ relationship deteriorated publicly after Harry and Meghan stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. Tensions intensified through the couple’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix documentary series and Harry’s 2023 memoir, Spare.

The book described private arguments involving William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, including Harry’s allegation that William physically knocked him to the floor during a confrontation in 2019.

The brothers attended Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral events in September 2022 and were both present at the 2024 funeral of their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, although they were not seen interacting at the later service.

Harry Has Publicly Asked for Reconciliation

Harry has been clearer than William about his publicly stated position. After losing his legal appeal concerning police protection in Britain in May 2025, he told the BBC that he wanted to repair his family relationships and was willing to forgive past grievances. “I would love reconciliation with my family,” Harry said. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
