Meghan Markle marked Prince Harry’s 42nd birthday with a family montage that offered another unusually personal look at the Sussexes as they settle back into life in Britain.
The Duchess of Sussex posted the video on September 15, filling it with photographs and clips of Harry with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “He’s simply the best,” Meghan wrote, adding, “Happy birthday, my love ❤️,” according to PEOPLE.
Among the images were Harry kissing Lilibet, helping Archie set up an archery game, skiing with his daughter and riding in a golf cart with members of the family. Another black-and-white photograph showed Harry and Meghan kissing in a vineyard while a cover of “Simply the Best” played over the montage.
The birthday post arrived during the family’s first month back in the U.K. after six years based in California. Archie and Lilibet have already started school in Britain and are now changing schools as Harry and Meghan continue adjusting their security arrangements and everyday routines.

The birthday reel was built less around Harry’s public work than his role at home. Archie appeared with his father at an archery setup, while several clips showed Lilibet alongside Harry during family outings. Their Labrador, Pula, also appeared.
PEOPLE reported that several of the images appeared to have been taken in the English countryside, while other moments in the montage included Harry skiing with Lilibet and the family riding together through greenery. Meghan has increasingly used her personal Instagram account for family milestones since returning to the platform in 2025.
The Family’s U.K. Return Has Already Brought a School Change
Archie and Lilibet started school in Britain after the family’s return, but their first placement lasted only two days. A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan told Reuters that the change followed discussions with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their arrangements.
The distance from the family’s new home and heavy traffic during the journey had created concerns for their security team. The spokesperson stressed that the decision was not a criticism of the original school and thanked its teachers and staff for the care shown to the children.
The school switch comes while the family’s wider protection arrangements are also being reassessed. Meghan is set to receive her first government-backed risk assessment since she and Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020, while Harry is awaiting the outcome of a separate security review.
The couple’s automatic police protection ended after they stopped serving as working members of the royal family. Their current return has included interim security arrangements while those assessments continue.
Meghan Had Already Started Showing Their New British Routine
Two days before Harry’s birthday, Meghan posted another family video from Britain. The footage showed the couple and their children walking through the countryside, cycling, fishing and splashing through puddles, accompanied by Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.”
The September 13 reel was the first substantial glimpse Meghan had shared of the family’s new life after their August return. Archie and Lilibet had spent most of their childhoods in California, with Lilibet born there in 2021 and Archie still a baby when his parents stepped back from royal duties and relocated in 2020.
Meghan has said through people close to the couple that she values giving the children the chance to experience both sides of their family background, while Harry wants them to understand the country and family history he grew up with.
