Rihanna’s daughter Rocki Irish Mayers has officially turned 1, and her first birthday came with a mother-daughter fashion moment that made the celebration unmistakably theirs.

Rihanna and her youngest child wore coordinating pink looks for the Sept. 13 party, with the singer kissing Rocki on the forehead in photos shared by longtime friend Melissa Forde. People reported that Rocki wore a flowing ruffled top finished with a white polka-dot bow, while Rihanna chose her own version of the look with ruffled shorts, black tights and narrow sunglasses.

The celebration itself stayed in the same playful territory. Photos showed a pastel balloon installation and carnival-inspired decorations, including a small carousel and a purple elephant. MadameNoire reported that family and friends gathered for the milestone and identified the matching outfits as custom Dior, although that designer attribution has not been separately confirmed by Dior.

Rocki’s first birthday closes an unusually fashion-heavy first year. Before she could walk into her own birthday party, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s daughter had already appeared on two magazine covers, worn custom Dior Haute Couture and accompanied both parents through a series of family and fashion moments.

Forde’s birthday carousel included the photograph of Rihanna holding Rocki close while wearing their coordinated outfits.

Rocki’s top featured layers of soft pink ruffles and a large white bow with pink polka dots across the back. Rihanna’s version used the same color and ruffled texture but turned it into a more grown-up outfit with shorts, sheer black tights and slim sunglasses, according to People.

Forde, who has been one of Rihanna’s closest friends for years, described Rocki as her “auntie’s baby” while celebrating the matching mother-daughter moment. She also shared several photographs of the party rather than only the outfit, giving a look at the elaborate pastel backdrop surrounding the birthday girl.

The decor included a large balloon arch in muted pink, lavender, yellow and blue tones. Another part of the setup followed a carnival theme, with a miniature carousel and an elephant positioned behind it.

MadameNoire described Rihanna and Rocki as wearing matching custom Dior designs. The label would fit Rocki’s existing wardrobe, but the birthday photographs themselves were not accompanied by an official Dior identification, so the designer detail is best treated as reported rather than confirmed.

The birthday color scheme also echoed the first photographs Rihanna shared of her daughter almost exactly one year earlier.

Rocki was born on Sept. 13, 2025, although Rihanna waited until Sept. 24 to announce her arrival publicly. In the announcement, Rihanna cradled her newborn daughter while Rocki wore a pink onesie, and a second photograph showed a tiny pair of pink boxing gloves threaded with ribbons.

Rihanna kept the caption short and sweet, revealing her daughter’s full name, Rocki Irish Mayers, and her Sept. 13 birth date. Vogue noted at the time that the name continued the family’s pattern of names beginning with the letter R.

Rocki joined older brothers RZA Athelston Mayers and Riot Rose Mayers, making her Rihanna and Rocky’s third child and first daughter. RZA is now 4, while Riot turned 3 in August.

Rocky had openly hoped their third baby would be a girl before the birth. While Rihanna was still pregnant, he told Elle that he was “praying for a girl” and felt that the third pregnancy was different from the first two.

After Rocki arrived, he was considerably less subtle about how he felt. Asked by Complex to name his favorite thing he had created in 2025, Rocky chose his daughter over his music, fashion and film work.

Rocki Became a Two-Time Cover Girl Before Turning 1

Rocki’s wardrobe became news again seven months after her birth when Rihanna brought her onto the cover of W‘s 2026 Pop Issue.

The April cover was Rocki’s first official public appearance, according to W Magazine. Photographer Tim Walker shot Rihanna and Rocki together, with Rihanna in Dior Haute Couture and her daughter wearing a custom Dior diaper and matching headpiece created specifically for the shoot.

Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson confirmed that the diaper was a first for the fashion house. He said Rihanna had approached the idea in the same way she approaches other creative collaborations, bringing an unusual concept and trusting the designer to help turn it into something real.

Rihanna appeared delighted that Rocki had drawn so much attention from the shoot. She joked afterward that her daughter had arrived on set and “shut her mama down,” with People reporting that the proud mother celebrated Rocki’s first cover on Instagram.

Rocki did not have to wait long for another one. In early September, days before her birthday, she appeared alongside Rocky on W China‘s Love Issue. Elle reported that the pair coordinated in denim while Rocky debuted pink hair for the shoot.

The second cover meant Rocki reached her first birthday with separate magazine appearances alongside both parents — one with Rihanna and one with Rocky.

Rihanna and Rocky Have Gone Big for All Three Kids’ Birthdays

Rocki’s carnival celebration follows a year in which Rihanna and Rocky have repeatedly turned their children’s birthdays into elaborate family events.

For RZA’s fourth birthday in May, the couple rented out New York City’s Sloomoo Institute, an immersive slime attraction. The party included custom slime stations, interactive exhibits, a themed cake and the venue’s slime waterfall.

Rihanna did not watch that part from a safe distance. She put on protective clothing and went underneath the slime waterfall with the children while guests cheered.

Riot received an entirely different theme when he turned 3 on Aug. 1. His Spider-Man party featured red, blue and black decorations, character balloons, banners marked “Riot 3” and a cake bar where guests could select different flavors and toppings.

Rihanna wore pink for that celebration too, while Rocky kept his look considerably simpler in a white T-shirt and baseball cap. The whole family joined guests in singing “Happy Birthday” to Riot.

Rocki’s party arrived six weeks later and gave the youngest Mayers child her own theme. Instead of slime or superheroes, her first birthday leaned into pastel colors, carnival imagery and the matching pink outfits that put her beside Rihanna at the center of the photographs.

For a child who spent part of her first year in custom couture and already has two magazine covers behind her, the birthday photos continued a pattern that started with Rihanna’s first pink photograph of her daughter: Rocki’s milestones rarely arrive without a fashion moment attached.
