Robert Pattinson is feeling one major difference as he returns to Gotham at 40: the fight scenes are considerably harder on him now.
The actor is filming The Batman Part II in London and told GQ that the physical demands are making him notice his age. “I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot,” Pattinson said. “Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.”
Pattinson was not expressing doubts about the sequel itself. He called the production fun, praised its cast and said he thinks the movie could turn out “pretty great.” He also compared the lengthy shoot to a marathon.
He expects to remain in London filming through the end of 2026. Matt Reeves began principal photography in June, and The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to open in theaters on February 18, 2028.
Pattinson Says He Is ‘Feeling My Age’ During the Fight Scenes
Pattinson specifically pointed to fighting as the part of returning to Batman that feels different at 40.
“It’s good. I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot,” he told GQ. “I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’”
He did not disclose an injury or suggest that the physical demands were interfering with production. “But it’s really fun,” he added. “And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great.”
PEOPLE also reported Pattinson’s comments and noted that the sequel has him deep into another physically demanding Batman shoot.
Pattinson Expects to Be Filming Through December

Reeves officially marked the beginning of principal photography on June 12 by sharing a production slate from the first day of filming.
Pattinson has now given a clearer idea of how long his own work will continue. “I’m in London here till the end of the year doing a Batman sequel,” he told GQ.
The cast includes returning actors Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis, along with newcomers Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch.
Wealth of Geeks previously reported that Stan publicly identified his character as Harvey Dent in August. Several other new roles remain undisclosed.
Variety reported in July that Warner Bros. moved the sequel to February 18, 2028, nearly six years after the first film opened in March 2022.
Pattinson Realized the Leaked Motorcycle Photos Were Actually Him
GQ also asked Pattinson about production photos showing a motorcycle rider moving through the snow.
He initially assumed the person might be a stunt performer and asked whether the footage had been captured in Liverpool or Scotland. When the interviewer explained that reports identified the rider as the Drifter, Bruce Wayne’s street disguise, Pattinson realized who was in the photographs.
“Yeah, it’s me! It’s me,” he said, laughing.
The Drifter appeared in the first film as a way for Bruce to move through Gotham without drawing attention as either himself or Batman.
Reeves Has Already Released an Official Look at Pattinson’s Return

Reeves gave audiences an official look at Pattinson’s return in July with a short camera test showing him back in the Batman suit.
The footage arrived alongside another release date change, moving the sequel from October 2027 to February 2028. Plot details remain closely guarded.
Reeves has said the new film will put greater emphasis on Bruce Wayne than the first movie, which spent more of its running time with Pattinson’s character operating as Batman.
Batman Comes at the End of Pattinson’s Nonstop Run of Movies
The long Batman production follows an unusually crowded period for Pattinson.
He told GQ that he has worked almost continuously since the actors’ and writers’ strikes, moving through projects including Die My Love, The Drama, Primetime, The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three.
Pattinson said he sometimes moved directly between productions. He finished Die My Love and went straight into The Drama, then moved into Primetime almost immediately afterward while also serving as a producer on the film.
Once his return to Gotham is complete, Pattinson already knows what he wants next. “At the end of this, I’m definitely taking a vacation,” he said.
