Savannah Chrisley shared ultrasound footage with a message to her unborn child as reports about her fiancé’s criminal history circulated. “You are not a controversy,” she wrote on Instagram Stories on October 27.
The Chrisley Knows Best alum, 29, had announced her pregnancy and engagement earlier that day. She referred to her partner as “J” in the announcement video and used his first name, Jason, on her Unlocked podcast.
Us Weekly identified him as Jason Galanis, 56, a businessman who served time in federal prison for securities fraud. His criminal record and the couple’s age difference became subjects of the coverage that followed.
Chrisley described her baby as innocent and deeply loved, saying other people’s opinions would not overshadow her excitement about motherhood. “You are my answered prayer. And I will never apologize for celebrating you,” she wrote, according to PEOPLE.

On the next Instagram Story slide, Chrisley shared a selfie with Galanis aboard a ship. Both wore sunglasses and smiled for the camera. She captioned the photograph, “My forever adventure partner.”
Unlike that photograph, her earlier announcement video avoided clearly showing his face. She had previously told podcast listeners that she might wait until after their wedding to reveal her partner’s identity.
Galanis’s Sentence Covered Two Securities Fraud Schemes
Galanis pleaded guilty to seven counts in January 2020 and was sentenced that September to 189 months in federal prison. The cases involved the Gerova Financial Group and bonds issued by a Native American tribal entity, according to the Justice Department.
Prosecutors described a scheme to manipulate Gerova’s stock and defraud shareholders, along with fraud involving investment-adviser clients. The separate bond scheme diverted money intended for tribal economic development. At sentencing, the court ordered Galanis to forfeit approximately $80.9 million and pay about $80.8 million in restitution.
President Donald Trump’s March 28, 2025, clemency grant commuted his entire sentence to time served and specified that there would be no further fines, restitution, probation or other conditions. A commutation reduces punishment without changing the fact of conviction, as the Office of the Pardon Attorney explains.
Galanis and Todd Chrisley Served Time at the Same Florida Prison
TMZ reported that Galanis and Todd Chrisley served overlapping prison terms at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida during 2023. Todd and his wife, Julie, had been convicted of federal bank fraud and tax offenses. Both received presidential pardons in May 2025, according to the government’s clemency records.
Savannah has said she met Galanis through political circles while advocating for her parents’ release. During a June appearance on Jana Kramer’s Whine Down, she described connecting through Washington, D.C., and said her partner worked in finance rather than television.
On the October 27 episode of Unlocked, she recalled receiving a congratulatory text from him after her parents were pardoned. She replied nine days later, and their conversations developed into a relationship. She dates the start of their romance to July 2025.
Chrisley Says Their Age Difference Influenced Her Decision to Stay Private
Chrisley discussed their 27-year age difference in the same podcast episode. “There is a huge age gap there,” she acknowledged, explaining that she had anticipated a harsh public response and had wanted to protect her private life.
She said the relationship’s quality mattered more to her than the number of years separating them. She would prefer two decades with a partner she loved deeply to a much longer relationship that was merely adequate, she told listeners, praising their mutual respect and shared ambitions.
Her father had initially been less comfortable with the pairing. During the June Whine Down conversation, Chrisley said Todd had reservations about the age difference but had since warmed to her partner. She also described feeling supported professionally, recalling his enthusiasm when she was approached about a possible television project.
Galanis proposed during a December 2025 trip to the Cayman Islands. Chrisley said he presented the ring as an expression of love without pressuring her to accept it as an engagement ring. The couple initially planned a January 2027 wedding but moved it to May following the pregnancy.
