Shemar Moore says he has undergone three surgeries on his feet after years of dealing with problems that included bunions. The 56-year-old actor discussed the procedures during his Oct. 2 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Moore joked that the disclosure might cost him a few followers. He contrasted his feet with the attention he has paid to his teeth and physique, describing expensive dental work and the sit-ups that help him feel comfortable lifting his shirt, according to PEOPLE.

He described a pronounced bump along the side of his foot that affected the shape of his dress shoes. After wearing a fresh pair, he joked, it could become difficult to tell which shoe belonged on which foot.

Moore, who was promoting S.W.A.T. Exiles, now calls his feet “presentable.” He said he feels comfortable walking barefoot beside a pool or going to the beach.

He Buried His Feet During a Beach Volleyball Modeling Shoot

The beach work Moore remembered included a shirtless volleyball advertisement for Mervyn’s department store, Entertainment Weekly reported.

When people approached, he said, he would quietly dig his feet into the sand to keep the bunions out of view. He demonstrated his modeling pose while telling Hudson how he had concealed them during the shoot.

Moore shared a postoperative video on May 15, 2023, after having bunions corrected on his left foot. Seated beside podiatrist Dr. Robert J. Joseph II, he showed the bandages and thanked the doctor in his caption for turning him into a future “Foot Model.”

Joseph separately explained on his own Instagram account that one of Moore’s toes had turned inward and could not bend, according to a contemporary report published by Woman’s Day.

Playing Hondo Means Several Days of Action for Each Episode

In a separate Sept. 24 interview with PEOPLE, Moore said S.W.A.T. Exiles episodes take about eight days to film, including three or four devoted to action. He described chases, fights, fire-escape jumps and helicopter work.

He was preparing with his trainer of 20 years. “But also, to be honest, you have to be in shape to do this job. Like, it’s not just vanity,” he said.

In June 2025, Moore had shared another postoperative photograph on Instagram, showing his foot in a cast. He described the procedure as “a little foot surgery” and wrote that he wanted to continue working and “chase my daughter around in circles.”
