Tom Holland and Zendaya went from one of Hollywood’s biggest awards nights to a much quieter date just three days later.
The couple were photographed visiting an art gallery in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 17th, trading the formal looks they wore during Emmy night for a more understated afternoon together. PEOPLE published photos of the pair leaving the gallery, with both appearing relaxed as they walked through the city.
The outing also offered another look at Zendaya’s dramatically shorter hair. The 30-year-old actress debuted her pixie cut at the Emmys earlier that week, then carried it into a completely different daytime look for the gallery visit. Holland, also 30, kept things even more casual, including a baseball cap advertising his own alcohol-free beer brand.
It was a rare pause after a summer in which they promoted two major movies together and only days after Holland quietly joined Zendaya inside the Emmy Awards.
Zendaya Mixed Current Prada With a Vintage 1999 Detail
Zendaya wore a fitted black one-shoulder top with a baggy, low-slung navy Prada poplin skirt for the outing. She completed the look with silver statement earrings, a Ferragamo bag and Prada boots, according to PEOPLE.
The shoes came with their own fashion-history detail. Vogue identified them as Prada motoboots from the label’s fall 1999 collection and paired them with what the magazine called the skirt’s “undulating silhouette and paperbag waist.”
Holland went in a noticeably more conventional direction. He wore a green plaid Ami Paris button-up tucked into medium-wash jeans with white sneakers. His beige baseball cap carried the Bero logo, referring to the alcohol-free beer company he co-founded after publicly discussing his decision to stop drinking.
Vogue described their contrasting approach as another example of the couple following different fashion instincts even when they are attending the same event.
Holland Skipped the Emmys Carpet and Joined Zendaya Inside
Zendaya posed solo for photographers in a custom Prada gown covered in crystals and beads, while Holland quietly entered the theater and joined her inside, PEOPLE reported.
Holland wore a black Dior suit with a dark blue shirt once inside. Cameras caught the two seated together during the ceremony, including when Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández noticed Zendaya from the stage.
“I want to say hi to Zendaya,” Hernández said before praising her and jokingly adding, “I would like to invite you and Spider-Man to have dinner at my house.”
Zendaya laughed and turned toward Holland as the two nodded and applauded. Zendaya was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for the third and final season of Euphoria. She had previously won the category in 2020 and 2022, but Rhea Seehorn won the 2026 award for playing Carol Sturka in Pluribus.
Her Pixie Cut Had Only Been Public for Three Days
Hairstylist Coree Moreno created the short style for the ceremony, telling Byrdie that he wanted it to feel “almost mischievous,” with individual pieces appearing to fall naturally into place.
The cut ends around Zendaya’s ears and barely reaches the nape of her neck, drawing widespread comparisons to Halle Berry’s signature pixie styles. At the Emmys, it was paired with Zendaya’s crystal-covered Prada gown, Mikimoto jewelry and red-carpet makeup.
The haircut also arrived shortly before another major promotional stretch. Zendaya is expected to return as Chani for Dune: Part Three, after already spending much of 2026 promoting several other projects.
The Couple Has Kept the Details of Their Marriage Private
The two met through Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. Their romance became public in July 2021 when they were photographed kissing inside a car in Los Angeles. Holland later explained why they reveal relatively little about the relationship.
“Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. “We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”
Zendaya made a similar distinction in an ELLE interview that year. “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” she said. “But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.” She described the balance as “protecting the peace” without feeling that she had to stop living normally or hide.
PEOPLE confirmed their engagement in January 2025 after Zendaya appeared at the Golden Globes wearing a diamond ring. Holland then acknowledged in June 2026 that an actual wedding had taken place while debunking AI-generated wedding photographs, telling Esquire that his family knew the images were fake because “they were all there.”
In July, he publicly referred to Zendaya as “my wife” during an appearance on the Dish podcast. PEOPLE reported the remark after his earlier confirmation that they had tied the knot. The couple then hosted a private celebration at Beaverbrook in Surrey, England, on August 4th. PEOPLE reported that the gathering celebrated the private wedding they had held earlier in the year.
The Date Came After Two Blockbusters They Made Together
Both appeared in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, with Holland playing Telemachus and Zendaya portraying Athena. The film opened July 17th.
Less than two weeks later, they returned to the Marvel universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Holland back as Peter Parker and Zendaya returning to the franchise. The film opened in the U.S. on July 31st and delivered a record-setting global debut.
At the London Spider-Man premiere, Zendaya called Holland her “best friend” and said it was a privilege to continue making the films together. By August, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told PEOPLE that the pair were finally taking “a good and restful victory lap” after the two releases.
