Fat Joe went to Cleveland expecting a courtside view of one of the biggest New York Knicks games in decades. Instead, the rapper and longtime Knicks fan said his floor seats were pulled before Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The claim surfaced before the Knicks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 on May 25, completing a four-game sweep and sending New York to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
The night already had major sports stakes. Fat Joe’s ticket dispute gave it an extra entertainment angle, especially because several high-profile Knicks fans had traveled to Cleveland for the clinching game.
Fat Joe Said His Courtside Seats Were Pulled

People reported that Fat Joe told ESPN’s NBA Today he had purchased courtside tickets before the Cavaliers organization learned that he was attending as a Knicks supporter.
According to Fat Joe, he was then told he could not sit courtside because Knicks fans could not be that close to the floor. The rapper, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, said the issue came up after the team realized “superfan Fat Joe” would be in those seats.
He still attended the game, but People reported that he and other celebrity Knicks fans ended up a few rows back rather than directly on the floor.
The Cavaliers Pointed to Playoff Ticket Rules
The Cavaliers gave a different explanation. A team official told People that playoff courtside seating is governed by a specific agreement that restricts resale or transfer without approval.
That leaves the dispute in two different frames. Fat Joe described it as a Knicks-fan issue. The Cavaliers framed it as a ticket-agreement issue.
The team statement did not say Fat Joe was removed from the arena. He remained in the building and watched New York clinch the conference title from seats close to the court, just not the courtside position he said he originally purchased.
New York’s Celebrity Fans Followed the Team to Cleveland

The Knicks’ playoff run has turned celebrity fandom into part of the show. At Madison Square Garden, familiar courtside faces such as Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, and Fat Joe have helped give the team’s postseason a recognizable New York look.
That energy traveled to Cleveland for Game 4. People reported that Fat Joe, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Stiller, Morgan, and Lee were among the high-profile Knicks supporters in attendance as New York finished the series.
The celebrity attention fit the size of the basketball moment. The Knicks entered the night one win away from the Finals, and their fan base had waited since 1999 to see the franchise return to that stage.
The Game Became a Knicks Celebration Anyway
The ticket issue became a sidebar once the game started. New York controlled the night and completed the sweep with a 37-point win. NBA.com noted that the Knicks won 130-93 and finished the series 4-0.
Jalen Brunson received “MVP” chants during the game and later won the Larry Bird Trophy as Eastern Conference Finals MVP. NBA.com reported that Brunson averaged 25.5 points on 49% shooting during the sweep.
For Fat Joe and other New York celebrity fans, the seating dispute did not change the final memory of the night. They were still in the building when the Knicks secured their first Finals berth since 1999.
