Jelly Roll is stepping away from touring for as long as two years after telling fans that he needs time to “heal.”
The country singer announced the extended break during his July 28 performance with Post Malone at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
He told the audience that only one concert remained on his schedule. That final show took place two nights later at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, with support from Justin Moore and Ashley Cooke.
The announcement came 11 days after Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo finalized their divorce following nearly 10 years of marriage.
Jelly Roll Said His Final Show Was Two Nights Away
Jelly Roll shared the news while thanking the Salt Lake City audience for supporting his rise from an independent rapper to one of country music’s most visible performers. “This has truly been a lifetime experience for me,” he told the crowd, according to People.
The 41-year-old then revealed that his approaching Colorado Springs performance would be his last for “a year or two.” “I’m fixing to take some time off and heal,” he said. “Thank you for the opportunity.”
His official tour calendar lists the July 30 Colorado Springs concert as his most recent date and currently shows no upcoming performances.
The Break Follows More Than 375 Shows Since 2022
The hiatus follows a demanding stretch in which Jelly Roll performed more than 375 shows after reaching mainstream success in 2022. His 2026 schedule included a limited run of smaller amphitheater dates on the Little ASS Shed Tour and stadium appearances with Post Malone during the second installment of the Big Ass Stadium Tour.
Jelly Roll previously acknowledged that career success brought a different kind of pressure. In a 2024 interview, he said he had never feared failing to break through but became frightened of losing everything once his career took off.
The years of heavy touring also included significant personal and physical changes. Jelly Roll has documented a weight-loss transformation of nearly 300 pounds while continuing to perform and record.
His 2024 album, Beautifully Broken, won best contemporary country album at the Grammy Awards in February 2026. He also won that night for his collaborations with Brandon Lake and Shaboozey.
His Divorce From Bunnie Xo Was Finalized in July

Jelly Roll, whose legal name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from Bunnie, whose legal name is Alisa DeFord, in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18. The filing listed May 9 as their separation date and cited irreconcilable differences. A judge finalized the divorce on July 17, approximately two months after the initial filing.
According to court documents obtained by People, the former couple divided property through a confidential agreement covering real estate, vehicles, an aircraft, financial accounts, trusts, business interests and intellectual-property rights.
Jelly Roll agreed to make a confidential lump-sum payment to Bunnie in place of continuing alimony. Each side retained responsibility for individual debts and legal expenses.
Both Denied That Recent Infidelity Caused the Split
When news of the divorce became public in June, Jelly Roll addressed the breakup from the stage and rejected speculation that either spouse had recently been unfaithful. “Nobody cheated on nobody,” he told the audience.
He called Bunnie his best friend, thanked her for their years together and said he expected their friendship to continue after the marriage ended. Bunnie offered a more detailed account during a since-deleted episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. She said communication had deteriorated and described an argument around Mother’s Day as a turning point.
She later explained that she removed the episode because she did not want one of the most difficult periods of her life preserved as a permanent headline. “I believe that people deserve the space to heal, to evolve and to move forward,” she said.
They Still Plan to Pursue Having a Child Together
Despite ending their marriage, Jelly Roll and Bunnie have said they still intend to pursue their plans to have a child using embryos created during their IVF journey.
Their marital dissolution agreement acknowledges that both were advised to obtain specialized legal guidance before proceeding because of the developing laws surrounding embryos, assisted reproduction and parental rights after divorce.
Bunnie previously described their relationship as unconventional and said the end of their marriage had not eliminated the family plans they began while they were together.
‘Hands Up’ Arrived During His Final Weeks on the Road
Jelly Roll remained professionally active throughout the divorce process, releasing “Hands Up” on June 24 as his first single after filing to end the marriage. The gospel-influenced song centers on surrender, redemption and the decision to stop resisting change.
Its official music video was filmed inside California’s San Quentin Rehabilitation Center and featured incarcerated participants. Jelly Roll called the project one of the most meaningful experiences of his career and connected the setting to his own history of arrests and incarceration before finding success through music.
“From inside the walls of San Quentin. My story,” he wrote when the video was released on July 17, the same day his divorce was finalized.
