Khloé Kardashian says a search for her then-husband, Lamar Odom, brought her and Kris Jenner to a hotel room with about 20 people inside. Their attempt to retrieve him became a confrontation, according to their recollection.

The women discussed the encounter during the November 5 episode of The Kardashians. They were staying at Kris’ Palm Springs home with Kim Kardashian and her The Fifth Wheel costars Nikki Glaser, Brenda Song and Fortune Feimster.

A truth-or-dare question about an embarrassing date prompted Kris to bring up the memory. She said they had received information about Odom’s whereabouts during his struggles with substance use and went looking for him.

Neither woman identified the hotel or dated the encounter. Odom’s representative had not responded to PEOPLE‘s request for comment when its report was published.

Kris and Khloé Remembered Their Preparations Differently

Kris said her daughter had instructed her to wear black clothing, including a hoodie and beanie. Khloé rejected that part of the story, saying she had only asked her mother to accompany her. She attributed the dramatic wardrobe instructions to Kris.

According to their account, Khloé’s security team entered the room first. Khloé said she then began hitting people. When Feimster asked whom she had struck, she said they were people she did not know.

Khloé recalled her mother retreating to the bathroom and collecting drugs in trash bags as the confrontation continued. Kris remembered feeling overwhelmed and questioning how she had ended up in that situation.

In a confessional, Khloé said she remembered the night clearly but had not discussed it in years. She was surprised her mother had chosen to share it during their first meeting with Kim’s guests.

She Paused Their Divorce During Odom’s 2015 Hospitalization

Kardashian and Odom married in September 2009 after a monthlong courtship. She first filed for divorce in December 2013, but the proceedings had not been finalized when he suffered a medical emergency in Nevada in October 2015.

She withdrew the petition while helping with his care. In a PEOPLE interview covered at the time by Entertainment Tonight, Kardashian explained that supporting his recovery did not mean they had resumed their relationship. His medical needs, rather than a romantic reconciliation, were her priority.

She filed again in May 2016. A judge approved their divorce that December, and they became legally single on December 17, according to Us Weekly‘s contemporaneous reporting.

Odom Discussed a Hotel Confrontation During His 2019 Book Tour

A hotel encounter also appeared in Odom’s memoir, Darkness to Light. During a May 29, 2019, appearance on The Jenny McCarthy Show, documented by Us Weekly, he said Kardashian had contacted him about a passage describing her arriving at a hotel and hitting a woman.

Odom described her text as friendly. “She said that she didn’t even think that I remembered that story,” he told McCarthy. The new episode does not establish whether the women were describing the same encounter he wrote about.

During that book tour, Odom also acknowledged that he had not warned Kardashian or her family about the memoir’s contents. He told Us Weekly that he probably should have, while maintaining that he had not written it to attack them.

Both Revisited Their Marriage in a Netflix Documentary

Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom premiered on March 31, 2026. Netflix describes the film as an examination of the pressures and decisions behind Odom’s public life, with interviews from the former NBA player, Kardashian and others who knew him.

In that documentary, Kardashian described searching alleys and motels for her husband. She also recalled cleaning up hotel rooms because she worried that staff might sell information about what they found.

“But I just felt such a responsibility to cover this up, hold it together and protect him,” she said.
