Kim Kardashian fell in love with Lewis Hamilton partly because of how he treated her four children, a source close to her told PEOPLE. The insider said his consideration for the children mattered from the beginning of their relationship.
Kardashian, 46, shares daughters North, 13, and Chicago, 8, and sons Saint, 10, and Psalm, 7, with her former husband, Kanye West. Hamilton, 41, had known Kardashian for years before they were romantically linked in February.
The October 28 report follows Hamilton’s revelation that he bought the children a golden retriever named Halo. According to the source, the puppy was one example of the thoughtful things he has done for the family.
Kardashian also shared a new photograph of Chicago with Halo on October 27, giving followers another glimpse of the dog that had already appeared in the family’s summer vacation pictures.

Kardashian captioned her Instagram carousel “a little bit of life.” The opening photograph showed Chicago in a pink hoodie, reaching toward Halo and leaning close to his face as the puppy stuck out his tongue, as InStyle reported.
The insider said Hamilton recognizes how important being a mother is to Kardashian and tries to make her responsibilities easier. “He’s always gone above and beyond for them,” the source said.
The same person described Kardashian as grateful that she and Hamilton gave their longtime friendship a romantic chance. She considers him a strong partner and feels fortunate to have him in her life, the insider added. The source characterized their relationship as “calm and mature” and said Hamilton makes her happy.
Hamilton Says He Loves Spending Time With Her Children
Hamilton spoke about the children during an October 24 Fan Zone appearance at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Asked what brings him happiness outside racing, he mentioned his niece and nephew before turning to Kardashian’s family.
“My girlfriend’s kids, I love spending time with them,” he said in the clip shared by Formula 1’s official TikTok account and reported by Us Weekly.
He described getting to play with the children and confirmed that he had bought them Halo earlier this year, as Wealth of Geeks previously reported.
The Couple Have Shared More of Their Relationship Publicly
In April, Hamilton posted an Instagram video showing Kardashian riding beside him in a Ferrari F40 in Japan. The footage included driving at the Daikoku Parking Area, with Kardashian reacting to the experience from the passenger seat, according to Harper’s Bazaar.
Kardashian featured Hamilton on her own account in June, sharing footage of the couple riding bicycles. Their later summer photographs included family vacations with her children.
Hamilton also visited the set of All’s Fair in August. Kardashian’s co-star Glenn Close shared a photograph from the visit and praised him as a “sweet, classy gentleman,” Parade reported.
