Miranda Kerr Says Walking in Underwear at 43 Gave Her a ‘Knot in My Stomach’ About Victoria’s Secret Return

Miranda Kerr could picture the wink she’d give the crowd if she walked the Victoria’s Secret runway again. It was the thought of standing there in her underwear that gave her a knot in her stomach. This time, the former Angel decided to sit the show out.

On the November 3 episode of Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny But Not Fat, the Australian model explained why this invitation was harder to turn down. Victoria’s Secret had asked her back for the 20th anniversary of her debut. She had last walked in its fashion show in 2012.

Part of the draw was who would be backstage in Los Angeles. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who had made her Victoria’s Secret debut the same year as Kerr, was coming back after 16 years away. Kerr liked the idea of catching up with her old friend.

When the show took place on October 18, Kerr watched from home. She later told Australia’s KIIS Breakfast that this was the first invitation she’d seriously considered since hanging up her wings.

What Happened When Kerr Tried to Meditate on the Invitation

While meditating, Kerr tried to picture the moment she would step out in front of the audience. She found herself thinking about how much her life had changed since her Angel years. “I’m 43. I have four boys,” she recalled thinking, according to People.

Meditation did little to ease the anxiety. It was only when she told herself she could decline that she felt the knot release. Other people encouraged her to reconsider, but Kerr said she was happy to keep the photos from those years and grateful that the brand still wanted her. “That was then and this is now, and I’m at a different stage in my life,” she told Hirsch, according to Entertainment Weekly.

On October 17, Kerr shared photos and footage from her years with Victoria’s Secret on Instagram. She thanked the people she’d worked with, wished the models in the upcoming show well and said she wanted to remember that part of her life as it was. The brand replied in the comments, “Always an Angel to us.”

Kerr made her Victoria’s Secret debut in 2006 and became an Angel in 2007. She walked in six shows, taking 2010 off while pregnant with her eldest son, Flynn. When she returned in 2011, she wore the $2.5 million Fantasy Treasure Bra. London Jewelers spent 500 hours setting nearly 3,400 gems by hand, according to Victoria’s Secret.

The Runway Invitation Kerr Accepted in Paris

Less than three weeks before the Los Angeles show, Kerr walked through the rain at Stella McCartney’s spring 2027 presentation in Paris. She wore a seafoam-green dress with padded shoulders and a knot at the waist. It was her first runway appearance since a Moschino show in June 2017.

Kerr had walked for McCartney twice before, in 2011 and 2013. After their September 30 reunion, she posted backstage photos and thanked the designer for welcoming her back. “Still smiling from this morning,” she wrote, according to Us Weekly.
