Social-media users made the same connection after clips and screenshots from the episode circulated online, with one commenter asking whether Mace was a senator or Catwoman. Mace has not said the outfit was intended as a costume or tied it to the DC Comics character.
The appearance comes shortly after Mace began publicly showing tattoos that she had previously kept largely covered, giving viewers of her YouTube show a markedly different look from the one she typically presented during congressional appearances.

She also responded publicly to the attention surrounding her sleeves, joking about people becoming upset over her tattoos and arguing that her arms should not be a news story.

Thursday’s episode put Mace in a fitted black jumpsuit with a front zipper, prompting The Express and social-media users to draw comparisons with Catwoman. The reaction centered on her clothing rather than a theme announced for the episode.
TMZ specifically invoked Pfeiffer’s version of the character from Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns, where the actress wore a black stitched catsuit as Selina Kyle. Mace did not describe her own outfit as a tribute to Pfeiffer or the movie.
