Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding rumors now have a New York City permit attached to them.

An event company has filed paperwork for street closures around Madison Square Garden during the July 4 holiday weekend, adding the most concrete public clue yet to speculation about a possible July 3 celebration in Manhattan.

The permit request, filed by Winick Productions, asks to close West 31st Street near Madison Square Garden from July 2 to July 4, according to ABC News. Two city officials told the outlet that the filing is the first clear sign of planning for a possible Swift-Kelce wedding event at the arena.

Swift and Kelce have not confirmed Madison Square Garden as a wedding venue. The filing is a major clue, not an official announcement.

The street-closure request covers the area around the arena and includes plans for an exterior canopy, which could be used to shield arrivals and departures from public view. The event size listed in the filing is between 500 and 999 people.

City Hall spokesperson Dora Pekec confirmed to Reuters that a permit had been filed for street closures around Madison Square Garden from July 2 to midday July 4 for an event on July 3.

People also noted that the filing requests space for tents, trucks and event infrastructure outside the venue.

The Rumored Plan Includes Two Events

The original New York Times report described a smaller gathering of about 100 people at Madison Square Garden on July 2, followed by a larger July 3 celebration with roughly 1,000 guests and possible stage appearances.

People cited the Times in reporting that Swift has allegedly rented the arena for a multi-day event. Representatives for Swift and Kelce did not immediately respond to the outlet’s request for comment, and Winick Productions declined to comment.

ABC News also stressed that the permit does not prove the wedding will take place at Madison Square Garden. The paperwork shows event planning around the arena, but the couple has not publicly confirmed the venue, date or guest list.

Other Clues Have Kept the MSG Theory Alive

Madison Square Garden has no public events listed between June 29 and July 6, with Bon Jovi scheduled to perform there July 7.

The Times report also pointed to several Kansas City Chiefs players booking rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square around July 3, according to Reuters.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has even referenced “Taylor Swift’s wedding” while discussing the city’s packed summer calendar. When later asked whether he had an invitation, he joked that he did not and wished the couple a lovely wedding.

George Kittle Said Guests Still Do Not Know the Venue

The permit news follows comments from George Kittle, who said he and his wife, Claire, had received wedding invitations but still did not know where the event would take place.

Kittle said he asked Kelce during Tight End University whether the wedding was happening at Madison Square Garden. Kelce “laughed” at the question, Kittle told People.

The 49ers tight end also told Extra that Swift and Kelce told guests “absolutely no gifts,” though he joked he might still get Kelce an old coin.
