Carrot Top is back home with his family after spending about a week in the hospital.
The 61-year-old comedian, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was discharged following a suicide attempt on Sept. 18. A source close to Thompson told PEOPLE that he is home with his family and “doing well.”
Thompson had remained under medical care for several days after the incident. His representative said on Sept. 20 that he was awake, breathing on his own and surrounded by family and others close to him.
His Las Vegas residency remains on pause while he recovers. Performances at the Luxor have been canceled into October, and no official return date has been announced.

Thompson was hospitalized in Las Vegas after the Sept. 18 incident at his home. PEOPLE cited a police incident report and statements from his lawyers in court records in reporting that the hospitalization followed a suicide attempt.
His representative initially said Thompson was receiving care and support while asking the public to respect the family’s privacy.
By Sept. 20, his condition had improved enough for his representative to tell TMZ that he was awake and breathing without assistance.
Fans Sent Messages During His Hospital Stay
Thompson’s representative said humor remained part of his interactions with the medical staff caring for him. He was also shown messages from fans who described how his comedy had helped them through difficult periods in their own lives.
His representative said hearing those stories meant a great deal to Thompson during his recovery. His family thanked fans for the support while continuing to request privacy.
Thompson’s representatives have otherwise shared few details about his recovery, and he has not personally issued a public statement since leaving the hospital.
His Las Vegas Shows Remain Canceled Into October
Thompson has headlined at the Luxor since 2005, where his prop comedy show became one of the longest-running residencies on the Las Vegas Strip. His Sept. 18 performance was canceled after he was hospitalized, with additional dates subsequently removed from the schedule.
Live Nation currently marks performances from late September through Oct. 11 as canceled. An Oct. 19 performance remains listed for sale.
The ticket listing does not amount to an official return announcement. Thompson, his representative and the Luxor have not publicly confirmed when he will resume performing.
