Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s new Ohio retreat is making its boundaries clear before unexpected visitors reach the residence.
A person who recently approached the property received an automated voice warning telling them not to continue onto the private estate, a nearby resident told Page Six. The reported system has added a new layer of attention to the $5.35 million lakefront mansion Kelce quietly purchased earlier this year.
The roughly 21,000-square-foot home sits in the Cleveland-area village of Bratenahl and includes eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a game room and home theater.
Local reporting independently confirmed the March purchase after the Wall Street Journal first connected Kelce to the historic estate.
A Neighbor Triggered a Voice Warning Near the Property
The most unusual new detail comes from someone living near the property who described what happened when another resident approached too closely. “A neighbor approached the house and got a voice warning about not passing onto the property after getting too close to the house,” the resident told Page Six.
The wider village already has its own security infrastructure, including local police patrols and security at some residential buildings. Real estate agent Patricia Knight Gary told Page Six that she was not aware of sweeping new security changes being made throughout Bratenahl because of the couple’s arrival.
Residents apparently did not know who had bought the estate until the purchase became public. “We found out publicly when everyone else did,” Knight Gary said.
The $5.35 Million Estate Was Bought Months Before Their Wedding
Local property records reviewed by Scripps and other outlets showed that Kelce quietly acquired the property in March for $5.35 million. Public records reviewed by USA Today showed the purchase was made through an Ohio LLC formed shortly before the sale, while tax correspondence listed Kelce’s longtime business manager André Eanes as the contact.
The main residence spans approximately 21,140 square feet and has eight bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and three half bathrooms. The property underwent an extensive restoration before the sale, preserving features including carved walnut, leaded glass and marble while adding modern amenities.
A former ballroom was transformed into a game room and home theater, while the property’s gatehouse became a separate two-bedroom guest cottage.
The estate, known as Moyenage, also has an unusual history. According to the Encyclopedia of Cleveland History, its third-floor ballroom served as a speakeasy during Prohibition, and an episode of the CBS series Route 66 was filmed at the mansion in 1962.
The previous owner bought the property for $1.95 million in 2023, restored it and later put it back on the market. Kelce’s $5.35 million purchase closed roughly four months before his July 3 wedding to Swift at Madison Square Garden.
Ohio Gives Kelce Another Base Close to Where He Grew Up
For Kelce, buying in Northeast Ohio represents a return to familiar territory rather than a random celebrity real-estate purchase. The Chiefs tight end grew up in Cleveland Heights with his older brother Jason. Kelce has repeatedly discussed the influence the area had on both brothers, from their years playing multiple sports to the friends, coaches and community members they credit with shaping them.
His business ties to Cleveland have grown as well. Earlier this year, Kelce joined the Cleveland Guardians’ ownership group as a minority investor, calling the opportunity one of the “coolest” things he had ever been part of after growing up attending games. Reuters later referenced Kelce’s investment while reporting on Denzel Ward joining the same ownership group.
Swift has also spent time in Cleveland with Kelce. The couple sat courtside at Game 3 of the Cavaliers’ Eastern Conference Finals series against the New York Knicks in May, with Kelce openly cheering for his hometown team.
The Couple Has Taken Privacy Seriously Before
Their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden was surrounded by extensive privacy measures. The Associated Press reported heavy security around the arena, tented entrances designed to shield arrivals and an apparent ban on phones once guests entered. Very little personal footage from inside the ceremony appeared publicly afterward.
